Age appropriate activities are scheduled with flexibility allowed to respond to the needs of the individual child and day. My Discovery Gardens Children’s Center offers time for outside play, crafts, stories, instruction, and naps appropriate to the child’s ages, interests, and abilities.
The daily schedule as well as the curriculum is emergent based on the children’s interests. (For example; if the children are interested in cooking rather than dinosaurs then we will change our activity focuses). The children will never be forced to participate in any activity. The day is based on a play because children learn best through doing and exploring in an educational environment. Your child will be provided with tender loving care, understanding, patience, and guidance in a happy home setting. Chores, such as picking up toys, and helping to clear their dishes after meals are an example. For infants and toddlers who are too young to communicate with you about their day, a daily report sheet will be sent home. My Discovery Gardens provides preschool curriculum and activities for developing large and small motor skills. We do many arts and crafts where the focus is on the process, not the product. Free play is an important part of a child’s early years. It is here that they learn social skills that will be needed for the rest of their lives. There is a Pre-K Program for children who are age eligible for Kindergarten the following year. This is a play based learning environment where the children can grow and learn confidently without the fear of disappointment for failure.
